His professional affiliations with medical societies include memberships of the, All India Ophthalmological Society, Oculoplastics Association of India (OPAI), Asia Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery, Asia Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Oncology and Pathology and the International Society of Ocular Oncology.
He is on the Advisory Board of the International Council of Ophthalmology. He is also the Secretary of the Oculoplastic Association of India and the Vice president of the Asia Pacific Society for Ocular Oncology and Pathology.
Dr. Honavar completed his MBBS in 1987 from Bangalore Medical College and then in 1992 did his MD from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. In 2002, he did his fellowship at the American College of Surgeons.
He is a specialist of tumours of the ocular surface, eyelid, eye, and orbit, and particularly retinoblastoma; eye plastic surgery and eye prosthesis.
Dr. Honavar has been conferred some prestigious awards too.
Dr. Honavar has extensively published +150 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and has written book chapters.
