Dr. Sharma holds professional memberships of the Delhi Orthopedic Association, the Indian Arthroscopy Society and the ISSKSAA.
He completed his graduation from Govt. Bangalore Medical College, in 2000. After an internship, he then went on to do MS (Orthopedics) from S.M.S. Medical College & Attached Hospitals, Jaipur in 2001. He even completed a Fellowship in Shoulder and Sports Injuries in 2011 from Smith & Nephew Fellow,  Dr. Ashish Babhulkar Denanath Mangeshwar Hospital Pune.
He has also attended several workshops on developments in his field of practice. 
Dr. Sharma is a leading orthopedic surgeon with practice in open procedures of shoulder and knee joints, ACL and PCL reconstruction. He is also renowned to surgically treat shoulder and sports injuries, joint mobilisation, Shoulder SLAP lesions among other.
He has attended several conferences, national and international, as faculty where he delivered lectures on new concepts in knee and shoulder arthroscopic surgery.
