In 1971, he received the President of India award in scouting and also represented Karnataka and Mysore at the 13th World Scout Jamboree in Tokyo.

He is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology, Movement Disorders Society of India, Indian Epilepsy Society, Neurological Society of India, Indian Academy of Neurology, and Indian Epilepsy Association.
