With great academic grades, he did his MBBS from Government Medical College, Bellary, in 1989 and then did his diploma in 1996 from Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College, Gulbarga. He then earned his membership at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK in 2003.
He then pursued two fellowships in 2008 and 2010 at, St. Vincent's Hospital, Sydney and then University of Dundee, UK.
