Dr. Ambrish Mithal

Dr. Ambrish Mithal is a famed endocrinologist in India, with an experience of over 33 years.
He has won many awards, including:  Honored by the Government of India in 2015 with Padma Bhushan, the third-highest Indian civilian award Doctor of the Year award by the Delhi Medical Association. BC Roy Award by the President of India, 2017  International Osteoporosis Foundation President’s award in March 2016

He has many firsts to his credit: Established India’s first bone density measurement system and osteoporosis service in SGPGIMS Lucknow. First Indian to be trained in bone density measurement, as a JICA fellow, in Japan. First to establish osteoporosis as a serious health problem in India that affects an estimated 50 million people, First to establish the existence of widespread vitamin D deficiency in India.  First Indian to serve on international bodies like the WHO Global Taskforce on Osteoporosis and Committee of Scientific Advisors, Asia Pacific Advisory Council and Board of Governance of the International Osteoporosis Foundation First and only Indian to receive the “Boy Frame Award” of the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research, in 2004.

He writes a regular column in the OPEN magazine and has been on numerous health shows on TV.  
He has noteworthy articles in various print media like Times of India, Hindustan Times and India Today 
His expertise lies in Diabetes, Thyroid, and Hormone disorders including osteoporosis.
He has secured a Master’s Degree in DM (Endocrinology) from the prestigious All India Medical Institute. Following which he did his Fogarty Fellowship from Harvard Medical School, USA & JICA Fellowship from Japan.
