Her expertise lies in Combined Liver Kidney Transplantation, Acute Liver Failure, Liver intensive care, etc and she has successfully managed more than 1000+ liver transplant surgeries including 250+ paediatric liver transplant surgeries.
Dr Akila leads the team which provides intensive care services covering 100 critical care beds which includes a 36-bedded liver intensive care. She is the Chief Operating Officer of the Federation of Transplant Anaesthesia Society as part of the Society for Advancement of Transplant Anaesthesia (SATA). 
Under her credit, there are numerous national and international publications and she is actively invited as a guest speaker in scientific meetings, CME's, worldwide conferences to talk about Combined Liver Kidney Transplantation.
